Slimline self-service kiosk improves access and reduces queues

Avery Weigh-Tronix has partnered with Newvision to launch a slim self-service kiosk that enables customers to weigh letters and parcels, print stamps and pay for packages without having to queue at the counter. The Slim Postal Kiosk has been launched into post offices throughout Europe to reduce queues and increase efficiency for smaller communities.

David Jagger, business manager for Avery Weigh-Tronix, says: “This counter-top, self-service kiosk builds on the success of the large self-service kiosks that have already been introduced into the postal sector across Europe. Using these kiosks, customers can complete transactions in a matter of seconds. For smaller post offices and retail outlets it means that the customer can also complete their postal transaction at any time of the day.”

The Slim Postal Kiosk has a small footprint offering a counter-top solution. It has an integrated scale, chip-and-pin payment terminal and easy to use touchscreen display. Outlets can also add a barcode reader as an option so that the unit can deal with additional purchases and transactions.

The kiosk is an open system platform designed to be compatible with all market leading POS solutions, enabling easy integration of preferred software solutions.

Says Jagger: “Following the success we have seen in Europe with the large kiosk solutions using our core scale technology, we combined our expertise with that of Newvision, to create a small footprint kiosk. As post offices strive to increase access for their customers, the development of self-service options will play a vital role in the changing market.”
