DPD Germany unveils US$30m hub in Nagold

DPD has officially unveiled its new €30m (US$31.7m) parcel distribution center in Nagold, southwest Germany, following the completion of a 12-month construction project.

The facility will initially sort and distribute 37,000 parcels a day and can be expanded in future to handle a maximum of 85,000 parcels daily. The sorting hub will be home to a workforce of up to 300 members of staff and will make use of the latest in LED lighting technology.

Located on a 60,000ft² site on the INGpark Nagold Gäu business park, the new location will supplement and relieve the pressure on its neighboring depots in Ludwigsburg, Villingen-Schwenningen and Wendlingen. The catchment area of the Nagold depot covers a radius of approximately 50km (31 miles).

Boris Winkelmann, CEO, DPD Germany, said, “Our new depot in Nagold is representative of DPD’s strong growth. As soon as it begins its operations, Nagold will be one of our most important hubs in the south of Germany. Our investment is creating jobs with a secure future and making an important contribution to ensuring that we can maintain the pace of our growth.”
